Greetings, all,
The town board of Huntersville, my hometown, will consider a
resolution on April 5th, asking the state attorney-general to join the
lawsuit against the new federal healthcare mandates. I have sent the
following letter to the mayor and all of the town commissioners.
Chris
Dear honorable mayor and commissioners,
I understand that Commissioner Jeter will be offering a resolution to
the Board asking that the North Carolina Attorney-General join other
states, including South Carolina, in pursuing a suit against the
recent Federal takeover of healthcare for the general American public.
I write to encourage you to support that resolution, consistent with
the traditional understanding of the role of the lower civil
magistrate vis-a-vis the tyrannical acts of the higher magistrate.
Fundamental to the American War for Independence was the traditional
view, called "interposition" (http://tinyurl.com/ybgb87t), that a
lower magistrate has both authority and a responsibility to protect
his citizens from the tyrannical acts of higher magistrates.
Therefore, to act on this resolution would be to follow a long-held
and precious aspect of our liberty.
It is the same precept that has underpinned the so-called Sagebrush
Rebellion (http://tinyurl.com/yzwx25y) in our Western states.

"Those who pretend they want to preserve freedom, while they are eager to fix
prices, wage rates, and interest rates at a level different from that of the
market, delude themselves. There is no other alternative to
totalitarian slavery
than liberty. There is no other planning for freedom and general
welfare than to
let the market system work. There is no other means to attain full employment,
rising real wage rates, and a high standard of living for the common man than
private initiative and free enterprise."
