[LPmeck] Resolution Proposed for County Convention

Greetings, all,
I will offer the following resolution for adoption at the county  
convention Saturday. For anyone not familiar with independent cities,

Whereas, involuntary annexation violates private property rights; and,
Whereas, it creates double taxation without representation; and,
Whereas, it makes citizens the tools for government ends, a violation  
of the proper relationship between government and governed; therefore,

Be it resolved, that the Libertarian Party of Mecklenburg County  
petition our state and local governments for redress of this  
injustice; and,

Be it further resolved, that we urge the legislature to replace the  
current annexation regime with the system of independent cities used  
in the Commonwealth of Virginia; and,

Be it further resolved, that we encourage Libertarians in state and  
local elections to promote such a change; and,

Be it finally resolved, that we urge the Libertarian Party of North  
Carolina in its upcoming convention to adopt a similar resolution to  
promote statewide.
