Important lawsuit update!

On Monday, November 23, our attorneys filed documents asking the NC
Supreme Court to hear our lawsuit against NC's onerous ballot access
laws. Happily, several friendly organizations are planning to file
amicus briefs in support of our actions. These fine groups have told
our attorney they will assist:

Common Cause
Democracy NC
FairVote
Free & Equal
John Locke Foundation
League of Women Voters of NC
NC Institution for Constitutional Law
North Carolinians for Free and Proper Elections
NC Center for Voter Education
Southern Coalition for Social Justice

For now, we are in another waiting game. I'll keep you posted when
oral arguments are scheduled.

As we continue to wait, please remember that we still have an
outstanding balance with our attorneys. They are generously proceeding
with the appeal to the NC Supreme Court pro bono, but it would be
great if we could have our balance ($16,000 plus) paid in full prior
to our hearing in the Court. Please donate at lpnc.org/donate.php.

Introducing our new Political Director

The Executive Committee is pleased to announce that we have appointed
Matt Reeps of Charlotte to serve as Political Director. Matt brings a
wealth of organizational experience to this important position. Over
the next few months, Matt will be organizing a team to offer support
for our candidates in the upcoming elections of 2010. Please read
Matt?s letter of introduction here.

We need candidates for 2010! If you are interested in being a
candidate for office or a campaign manager for a candidate or a
volunteer for a candidate's campaign, please contact Matt at
political_director at lpnc.org.

2010 State Convention

Our 2010 convention is set for April 9-11 at the Quality Inn in
Burlington. Please save the date and plan to attend. This year's
business will include making updates to the LPNC Platform, electing
two at-large Executive Committee members, selecting delegates to the
National Convention in St. Louis, and helping prepare candidates for
the 2010 elections.

Registration information will be available on the website soon.

Platform Committee

The main order of business at the 2010 convention is updating the LPNC
Platform. The current Platform is found at lpnc.org/platform.php. If
you are interested in being part of the committee that makes
suggestions for additions and deletions to this official document,
contact me, chair at lpnc.org.

Another Date to Save

The National Libertarian Party Convention will be May 29-31, 2010 at
the Renaissance Grand Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri. We will have seats
for 34 delegates, so please make plans to represent NC at this
important event. Contact me at chair at lpnc.org for additional
information.

Support the LP!

As always, please support the LPNC by making your most generous one
time donation or monthly pledge today. Donate here:
lpnc.org/donate.php.

Thanks for your support.

In liberty!

"Those who pretend they want to preserve freedom, while they are eager to fix
prices, wage rates, and interest rates at a level different from that of the
market, delude themselves. There is no other alternative to
totalitarian slavery
than liberty. There is no other planning for freedom and general
welfare than to
let the market system work. There is no other means to attain full employment,
rising real wage rates, and a high standard of living for the common man than
private initiative and free enterprise."
